The Trevi Fountain (Italian: Fontana di Trevi) is a fountain in the Trevi district in Rome, Italy, designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and completed by Giuseppe Pannini. Standing 26.3 metres (86 ft) high and 49.15 metres (161.3 ft) wide, it is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world.
What is Trevi Fountain? The Trevi Fountain is the largest Baroque fountain in the city. It was founded at the end of an aqueduct constructed in 19 BC to bring water to Rome from around 20kms away which supplies the fountains in the historic centre of Rome with water.
3. The Trevi Fountain was not designed by Bernini. The celebrated architect Bernini, who designed 5 spectacular fountains in Rome like the central fountain on Piazza Navona, did not design the present Trevi Fountain. But he did contribute to the process. In 1629 Bernini was commissioned to build a new Trevi Fountain.
